I am a huge advocate for all things outdoors. When I'm looking to explore a new city or find a place to call
home, my first stepis to scout out the parks. Living in Jacksonville my whole life, I've discovered
some awesome gems locally, throughout Florida, and even Gerogia when I need a
mountain fix. Below I've listed a few of my Florida favorties so you
can enjoy them too.
Alpine Groves Park, Jacksonville
If you are looking for a park that completely captures the St. Johns River and all of it's beauty, look no further. Alpine has the most stunning views of the river, mangroves, and those mossy oaks that make the Mandarin/St. Johns, south Jax area unique. There is a playground for kids, trails with various plant species, and old historic orange grove homestead, butterfly garden, and a long winding dock into the river. Trust me when I say, some of the best sunsets in Jacksonville are here!
You aren't a Florida resident until you've been to Ichetucknee. As you explore Florida you'll find many a spring to day trip or camp to, but this one is a staple. It's a perfect day trip from Jacksonville and definitely family friendly. Here you can knock out a leisurely float down the Ichetuknee River, experience a natural blue spring, spot some Manatee, and enjoy the heart of Florida.
